SUMMERSIDE – Dec. 1, 2022 - "Le Cadeau" (The Gift), a highly entertaining holiday play by Paul D. Gallant, will be staged three times, Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside.
"This play tells the touching story of young Amélie who wants nothing more for Christmas than to have the voice of an angel to sing the solo at midnight mass. But with her mother ill and her father having abandoned them, things get complicated for poor Amélie," says the author and director. "This story challenges us to reflect on the message of Christmas and the small miracles in our daily lives."
Several artists from the Evangeline area’s Acadian and Francophone community – Avery Arsenault, Briley Cameron, Melissa Arsenault and Nick Arsenault – will play the lead characters. They will be joined on stage by Mavrick and his brother Loïk Daigle, Véronique Vienneau and Adrienne Gallant from the Summerside area.
In addition, the actors and actresses will be accompanied in this show by a children's choir as well as an adult choir composed mainly of members of the Mont-Carmel Parish Choir. The audience will hear a repertoire of traditional Christmas songs presented under the skilled direction of Edmond Gallant, who will also accompany them on the organ.
The play is a production of "La Jeune compagnie" project. All proceeds from the play will be reinvested into other theatrical, choral, dance, etc., productions for youth in 2023. “Le Cadeau” is sponsored by North Cape Coastal Drive.
Tickets will be available at the door only. Admission will be $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and $25 for families of four or more. Cash only please.
