Closing Show of the Grand Ruisseau Song Festival this Sunday!

The third and final show of the Grand Ruisseau Song Festival organized by the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) will take place this Sunday, September 25 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall starting at 7 p.m.

This show will feature singer/songwriter Jacques Surette from Nova Scotia, Island-based singer/songwriter Michel Lalonde accompanied by Caroline Bernard and Rémi Arsenault as well as the trio formed by Louise, Jonathan and Angie Arsenault.

Jacques Surette is a young singer/songwriter from the southwestern region of Nova Scotia. He spends most of his time writing songs about his culture and his part of the country.  Like all great songwriters, surrounded by his guitar, his banjo and his harmonicas, Jacques is a storyteller who captivates his audience with his simplicity.   His folk-roots music intertwines perfectly with his unique accent which defines him.  Due to this Acadian cultural identity, he writes songs in both French and English to express his feelings and experiences that he shares with the public.  He currently has two albums to his name.  The first, entitled Marche, marche, marche which was co-produced by Lisa LeBlanc and Benoit Morier, was released in 2019 and the second entitled Jacques Surette II which was released in 2020.  He is currently working on his third studio album.

With a long career as a writer, musician, singer and founding member of the legendary group Garolou, Michel Lalonde moved to the Évangéline region a few years ago.  During this performance, he will bring you on a musical journey where songs and voices will be at the forefront.  Accompanied by Caroline Bernard and Rémi Arsenault, it’s with extreme pleasure that Michel Lalonde invites you to share his melodies, his words, his images and his stories.

Former member of the group Barachois, Louise Arsenault is known for her vibrant and energetic fiddle-playing style inspired by Acadian kitchen parties.  Add in Jonathan Arsenault, Louise’s son who is an incredible musician representing the second generation, as well as Angie Arsenault, Louise’s daughter who is an accomplished singer and musician with three albums to her name. Angie is also the very first Canadian artist to successfully fund the total cost of producing and releasing a full-length album through online crowdfunding.  Together, their energy resonates a joie-de-vivre as they take their audiences on a wild musical adventure!

The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com.  If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
