Singer/songwriter Claude Cormier from the Magdalen Islands performs a free virtual show!

The next show during the Mont-Carmel Fall & Winter Concert Series, presented by the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC), will take place virtually on Sunday, March 20, at 7 p.m. on its Facebook page.   This show will feature singer/songwriter Claude Cormier from the Magdalen Islands.

For Claude Cormier, music grasped his attention at a very young age.  Since this fisherman from the Magdalen Islands did not come from a musical family, he was left to figure out the rudiments of music on his own.  Lots of patience, determination and numerous campfires were required in order for him to learn how to play his instrument – the guitar.  Like all youths who dream of one day living from their music, Claude needed to find a way that would allow him to learn and understand the job and the industry. Therefore, over the years, he opened for numerous artists. In addition, he accompanied many singers and established artists.  He also performed in the bar circuit with his very first band – Cabano.  Through time, all the folks he met, sometimes idols but more often mentors, showed him the way and motivated him to keep persevering.  His convictions and his intense desire to succeed in music have helped him become the singer/songwriter that he is today.

This free hour-long show featuring Claude Cormier will take place this Sunday at 7 p.m. on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CDCPMC.  The last show of the season will take place on Sunday, March 27 with a traditional Acadian kitchen party featuring Jonathan Arsenault, Richard Wood, Cynthia MacLeod, Rémi Arsenault and Christina Gallant MacLean.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
