Shane Pendergast performs during the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series!

The fifth show of the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series, presented by the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC), will take place on Sunday, August 1 at 7 p.m. and will feature Island singer/songwriter Shane Pendergast.

Shane Pendergast is a folksinger from Tracadie Cross in Prince Edward Island.  At an early age, he learned to play music by ear and by the age of 13, he was performing professionally on stage. His connection to Maritime folk music dates back to the efforts of his great-grandparents, James “Big Jim” Pendergast and Gertrude Pendergast, as well as his grandfather, Reginald Pendergast, all preservers of folklore in Prince Edward Island.  His original songs are inspired by rural life and Maritime history. In 2020 he released his debut album titled Place to the Name and, one year later, he released his second album Second Wind.

This free hour-long show will be available on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CDCPMC.  Each week, until August 29 a free show will take place on Sunday night starting at 7 p.m.  During the rest of the month of August, numerous artists will be featured including: Flo Durelle (August 8), Keelin Wedge (August 15), Tara MacLean (August 22) as well as Josée Boudreau and Craig Fair (August 29).
