Great plays coming up!!!

After a difficult start with the production of the French Christmas play 'Le cadeau' due to illness, Le Théâtre du Soleil Oublié Group is back in force with two great French plays for winter and spring of this year.

Don't worry, because the play 'Le cadeau' will play in December 2020! In the meantime, the troupe is offering Jeanne d'Acadie on February 8 and 9 at l’École Évangéline. This play, by Paul Daniel Gallant, recounts the incredible journey of more than thirty years of Jeanne Dugas' life.

According to the author, more often than not, the heroes of history are men: priests, politicians and even soldiers. It is very rare to recognize the women who contributed so much to L'Acadie. Yes, there is Evangeline, of course, but Evangeline is a fictional character, whereas, Jeanne Dugas was a real person who left her mark on our history. She was finally recognized as a person of historical significance in Canada in 2015.

This is definitely a play not to be missed, starring Debbie Rousselle Montgomery, Maria Arsenault, Adrienne Gallant and the grade 5 class of l’École Évangeline who will perform a variety of different roles.

The play will be presented on Saturday, February 8, at 7 pm and Sunday, February 9, at 2 pm and 7 pm. Admission will be $10 for adults and $7 for students and those over 65. Children 5 years old and under enter for free.

Also, don't forget to reserve the dates of May 30th and 31st for the French musical 'J'étions les best'. This play tells the story of Claude and Priscille and their gang of friends in the summer of their graduation year in the Sixties. If you like the music of that time and nostalgia, this play is definitely not to be missed.

In the words of the theme song of the play

C’était un autre monde, le temps de l’indifférence
“It was a different world, a time of indifference.
Des étés chauds, d’amour et d’innocence
“Of warm summers, love and innocence”

More information will follow in the coming months about this production. In the meantime, if there are people who are interested in being part of the theatre group, as an actor, musician, stage manager or person in charge of costumes, sets, ticket sales at the door, etc., please leave your name with Velma LeBlanc at 902-439-5509 or by email at velmaleblanc@hotmail.com.
