Champion of Francophone Ignition Competition to be well connected with business world

Application deadline set for Jan. 18

WELLINGTON – Dec. 11, 2019 – The next champion of RDÉE Prince Edward Island’s Francophone Ignition Competition will have ample opportunity to connect with the PEI business community over the coming year, thanks to attractive prizes he or she will win.

In addition to winning a magnificent $25,000 prize from Innovation PEI to launch his or her business project, the winner will receive free one-year memberships in the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI (CCAFLIPE), all of which offer business networking, learning and training events.

In addition, the winner will get a pair of tickets to attend the CCAFLIPE Entrepreneurs' Gala awards night. Further prizes will be announced in coming weeks.

Contest coordinator Julie Gallant recently met with representatives of the three chambers to further explain the contest process and to thank them for their sponsorships.

It should be noted that people with entrepreneurial ideas have until Jan. 18 only to submit their applications. The contest is open to any Francophone or bilingual entrepreneur wishing to set up a new business, launch a new product or service or expand into a new product or production line.

Participants will receive two days of mandatory training on how to present their project Jan. 25-26. They will then participate in pre-selection interviews with a provincial panel of judges on Feb. 15. The three competitors with the greatest potential for success will then be invited to participate in the competition finals where they will have to present their project, in seven minutes, to the public and a national panel of judges and answer their questions. The finals will take place March 5, starting at 7 p.m., at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside.
