Looking for six other young adults for francophone leadership program

WELLINGTON – Sept. 20, 2019 - Organizers of the “Faut que ça grouille!” youth program are looking for six other young Francophone adults who are enrolled in post-secondary programs or who have completed their studies to participate in a series of leadership camps.

To date, 24 of the 30 possible participants have been successfully recruited for this citizen engagement program. The main target areas for the remaining six seats are West Prince, Souris and Charlottetown. If a sufficient number of additional participants from these regions cannot be found, other youth from the Evangeline, Rustico and Summerside regions will be accepted.

“Faut que ça grouille!” will offer young people aged 15 to 30 the opportunity to attend five more weekend camps between now and the end of March. They will participate in interesting training sessions and conferences, delivered by experts and professionals, to prepare them to become more integrated in their respective communities as volunteers and leaders.

They will learn about community volunteering, self-knowledge (through Insights Discovery), financial management, skills for success, positive leadership, networking, community communication, the operation of boards of directors and more. The youth will also benefit from testimonials, hands-on exercises, role-playing, recreational activities and community visits.

They will then have to lead or support a community initiative or project of their choice in their region.

Accommodations, meals and transportation for participants will be paid, even for those studying in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

Registration is required immediately as the next weekend camp will be held Oct. 11-12 in Mill River. The other camps will be held Nov. 9-10 in Charlottetown, Jan. 18-19 in Summerside and March 7-8 at a location to be determined. The last camp, which will offer some nice surprises, will take place towards the end of March.

A first introductory camp was held in June.

Interested parties from all regions of the Island are asked to contact Imelda Arsenault immediately at 902-439-2933 or imarsenault05@gmail.com for more information on the program or to sign up.

This one-year initiative, led by RDÉE Prince Edward Island, is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada, through its Youth Service Canada program.
