The artists taking the stage in Mont-Carmel on Sunday August 11 are announced!

The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full throttle for the 2019 season every Sunday evening until August 25.

The artists who will take the stage of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, August 11,  are singer/songwriter Laurie LeBlanc from New Brunswick, Island singer/songwriter Kim Albert as well as the traditional group Les Rats d’Swompe from Ontario.  There will also be stepdancing by Lisa Bernard. This show is presented in partnership with the Conseil scolaire-communautaire Évangélineand RADARTS (Réseau atlantique de diffusion des arts de la scène).

Recipient of the SOCAN Country Artist of the Year Award as well as the MNB Country Artist of the Year Award, Laurie LeBlanc is a singer/songwriter from New Brunswick who has been topping the charts of French country music radio stations.  Since the release of his very first record “La pitoune”, he has received numerous awards. After he was discovered on the radio show Puisqu’il faut se lever hosted by Paul Arcand and Émilie Perreault on 98.5 FM in Montreal, Quebec, his single “Moi-itou Mojito” was the most downloaded French single on iTunes Canada.  In his original compositions, Laurie shares his personal life experiences paired with captivating melodies.  His music, a blend of country with Acadian rhythms, has made him a crowd favourite amongst the country music scene.

Kim Albert grew up on country music. She took the stage for the very first time when she was 5 years old and has not stopped since.  She was nominated at both the East Coast Music Awards as well as the Music PEI Awards and has showcased at the Canadian Country Music Awards. Her video “Devil His Due” has played on CMT and many of her singles have played on Country music radio stations across Canada. She has performed on stages across Canada, the United States, Dubai and the Virgin Islands. She currently plays with her band Kim Albert and Faces.

Originally from Northern and Eastern Ontario, Les Rats d'Swompe are proud French Canadians who love introducing folks to the sound of the traditional violin.  Having taken their rightful place as part of the new wave of Franco-Ontarian traditional music, these five plaid lumberjacks take the stage to perform both original and contemporary folk compositions. These young and experienced musicians are one of the few groups to bring Franco-Ontarian folklore to life. They are a high-energy act that will make you want to sing and dance…and they’ll leave you wanting more!  Rat'n'Roll !!  Joining them on stage will be stepdancer Lisa Bernard.

The concert will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. You can find the 2019 line-up at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
