A musical evening not to be missed on August 4 in Mont-Carmel!

The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) is happy to announce the artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, August 4. The fifth show of the season, presented in partnership with the Atlantic Fiddlers’ Jamboree and the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, will feature the singer Jordane (QC), traditional artists Colin Savoie-Levac and Eléonore Pitre (QC), singer/songwriter Janet McGarry accompanied by Serge Bernard as well as Ivan et Vivian Hicks (NB).  There will also be stepdancing by Hailee Lefort.

After winning Université en spectacleVictoriaville en chansonsle Festival de la Chanson de Dégelis, after taking part in Volet Pro de l’Ampli de Québecin 2014 and after having been a singer on the television shows La Voix VIand The Launch, Jordane opened for Serena Ryder for a number of shows during one of her tours. Jordane currently has two recordings to her name: Folk expressions, released in 2017, and 12 jours, a folk-americana album that was released last January.

Colin Savoie-Levac and Eléonore Pitre have been sharing the stage for a number of years.  Both are members of the group Rosier (formerly known as Les Poules à Colin).  These two traditional musicians grew up backstage at folk festivals. Despite their young age, they have been sharing the stage for over 10 years and, with their group, they have performed in various cities across Canada, in numerous European countries including the United Kingdom and in the Ivory Coast.

Husband and wife duo, Janet McGarry and Serge Bernard have performed for many years at bluegrass festivals and many other events throughout Eastern Canada.   Whether they are performing bluegrass, country or folk music, their unique vocals and harmonies make them crowd favourites wherever they appear. 

Member of the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame, Ivan Hicks has been playing music for over 70 years.  This renowned composer is an ambassador for Atlantic Canada’s heritage and is the co-founder of the Riverview Arts Centre. Ivan has been sharing the stage with his wife Vivian for a number of years.  Together, they have received numerous awards and prizes. Among these are the prestigious Stompin’ Tom Award handed out by the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) in recognition of their long-term contribution to the East Coast music industry, the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Award and the Order of New Brunswick. Hailee Lefort will stepdance to the sounds oftheir traditional music.

All concerts, happening every Sunday until August 25th, start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall  (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to arrive early because the seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. You can find the 2019 line-up at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com
