Music for everyone on Sunday July 28 in Mont-Carmel!

Three concerts have taken place to date and the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday evening until August 25.  The artists who will take the stage of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 28, for the fourth show of the season are Alyssa and Andraya Gallant, Meaghan Blanchard, Émilie Landry (NB) and Cynthia MacLeod.  There will also be stepdancing by the Island’s own Isabelle and Danielle Saunders.

Alyssa and Andraya Gallant are both 15-year-old singers.  Alyssa is the daughter of Jennifer and Randy Gallant of Saint-Timothée and Andraya is the daughter of Shawn and Shawna Gallant of Saint-Hubert. They’ve been best friends for numerous years and   share a passion for music.  As a singer, Andraya has powerful vocals and she plays both guitar and piano. For her part, Alyssa enjoys learning to play new instruments.  Even though the ukulele is her instrument of passion, she also plays guitar, guitalele, piano, mandolin and enjoys singing harmonies.

ECMA award-winning songwriter Meaghan Blanchard has just released the most powerful album of her career. The Great Escapecelebrates the struggles and triumphs of real people, the true heroes and heroines of everyday life. She is fast becoming one of the most captivating performers and writers in Canadian roots music.

Émilie Landry shares her vision with the world as well as her life stories through her pop-folk songs all while accompanying herself on guitar.  She sings with conviction and allows her audience to join her throughout her journey.  Originally from Campbellton, in the northern part of New Brunswick, Émilie made her debut in the music industry in 2009 and rapidly turned heads at events such as the Gala de la chanson de Caraquet, the contest Accros de la chanson, the Festival International de la chanson de Granby and Ma Première place des arts.  In 2016, at the Campus Notre-Dame de Foy in Québec, she received her diploma in pop and jazz singing.  In 2017, she released her first solo EP entitled “Être social” which was produced by Francophone artist Daran.  On stage, she shares her joy of life and her love for music with the public. Songwriting for this young Acadian is a disease for which she hopes never to find a cure.

PEI fiddler Cynthia MacLeod has been entertaining audiences from near and far for almost 2 decades. With five albums and numerous Music PEI and ECMA awards and nominations to her credit, she is well known for her engaging, high-energy performances while staying true to her Island roots.  Her performance in Mont-Carmel is one of her only concerts featuring her repertoire of PEI, Cape Breton, Scottish, and Irish tunes. For the summer of 2019, she is returning as the fiddler in the band for Tara MacLean’s show “Atlantic Blue”, held at The Mack in Charlottetown. Joining her on stage will be stepdancers Isabelle and Danielle Saunders.

The concert, sponsored by The Co-operators – Mike Bradley Insurance Services Ltd and RADARTS, will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because the seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. You can find the 2019 line-up atwww.cooperativeculturelledmontcarmel.com
