The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is underway every Sunday night until August 25.
The seventh show of the season will take place on Sunday, August 18 and will feature brothers Scott & Gerald Delhunty (accompagnied by Marc Babin) from New Brunswick, Dueling Pianos with Craig Fair and Ben Aitken as well as the young fiddling virtuoso Luka Hall accompanied by Shane Pendergast and Michael Pendergast.
Les frères Delhunty were born in Leominster, Massachusetts, USA. Their parents, originally from Adamsville, New Brunswick, decided to move the family back to Adamsville in 1974. Gerald began playing guitar at the age of 10 and formed his first band, Midnight Riders, at the age of 14. Scott began playing guitar at the age of 5. By the age of 14, he was in his first band, Silver Spurs. Scott and Gerald were both members of the very popular band Sweet Temptation. With this group, they played on stages across Canada and the United States. The band has opened for and accompanied stars such as George Jones, Freddy Fender and Southern Pacific. In 1996, the band parted ways. Scott and Gerald decided to continue their careers together as a duo. The duo has performed in Canada, the US and even Europe. They have 5 albums to their credit as a duo, and each has produced a solo album. The duo has shared the stage with Hert LeBlanc, Laurie LeBlanc and accompanied Nashville stars such as Wesley Dennis, Georgette Jones, Ken Mellons and the late Daryle Singletary, to name but a few.
Craig Fair and Ben Aitken have been entertaining audiences across PEI and the Maritimes for over three years. Craig, originally from Ontario, and Ben, from PEI, met during the spring of 2021 and immediately got started on this long-running project. Dueling Pianos performs regularly at The Salvador Dali Cafe in Charlottetown as well as during a variety of events and private parties. Both Craig and Ben know how to make the keys of their pianos dance and venues resonate with their powerful vocals. A dynamic duo you do not want to miss!
Luka Hall is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter, guitarist and prodigious fiddle virtuoso who, since the age of 9, has been captivating audiences with his spellbinding performances and establishing himself as a rising star in Prince Edward Island's traditional music scene. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous musical theater productions, including Anne & Gilbert, Seussical Jr, Wizard of Oz Jr and Frozen Jr. At the age of 10, he released his first album, That Little Fiddle Player. His second album, Category 1, was released in November 2020. Over the past year, he has released 3 new singles, including Knuckles in 2023, When I Saw You in March 2024 and The Flowers of Our Nature on June 14. It's on the latter two that we discover not only his talents as an instrumentalist, but also his talents as a singer. During this performance, he will be accompanied by folk singer-songwriter Shane Pendergast and artist, musician and songwriter Michael Pendergast. His high-energy performance will get your toes tapping! Throughout the course of the evening, there will be step dancing by Linda Richards and her daughters Maddie and Isabelle.
The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for members of our Cooperative, $8 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com. If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.
