“De Glen à Garolou” presented at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall

Quiproquo Production, in collaboration with the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel, presents De Glen à Garolou, Michel Lalonde’s new solo show, on Saturday, August 24 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

This production is an intimate encounter and a journey back in time, told through the eyes and voice of this seasoned performer. It’s also the little-known story of a band with PEI roots as well as a sound and vision that propelled French traditional music to international heights.

With a guitar and a bundle of stories, Michel Lalonde paints a picture of a unique period and the highlights of a career that took him from his close-knit francophone community in Eastern Ontario and led him all the way to l’Acadie where the story of Garolou began.  Alone on stage, he shares his passion for the music of his generation and the astonishing creativity of the 1970s.  As a backdrop to this production will be excerpts from shows and images from Garolou's career which will complete this warm-hearted fresco of a band and music that marked an entire era.

De Glen à Garolou is a musical and personal journey in which the singer-songwriter tells his own story through his songs, reliving Garolou's greatest hits in their simplest form. A moment of sharing where nostalgia mingles with reflection and celebration!

The show will start at 8:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 7:15 p.m.  During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets, and the canteen will be open. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door on the night of the show. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at  www.tinyurl.com/Garolou.  If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.
