The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is underway every Sunday night until August 25.
The artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 21, are Marcella Richard (with Patricia Richard & Roland Beaulieu), Fiddlers’ Sons (with Eddy Quinn, Keelin Wedge & John B. Webster) as well as Louise Arsenault, Jonathan Arsenault & Helen Bergeron.
Marcella Richard grew up amongst a musical family and was surrounded by fiddles, harmonicas, mandolins, guitars and songs. She currently has four recordings to her name and her most recent recording “Marcella Richard Sings Roy MacCaull” was released in 2018. Her songs have been played on radio stations across Canada, in Louisiana and in France, and have reached the number one spot on charts in the Maritimes. Her voice has been described as one that goes straight to the soul and can make you laugh, dance and even cry. Marcella will be accompanied by her sister Patricia Richard as well as Roland Beaulieu.
Fiddlers' Sons is an award-winning Prince Edward Island folk music group. The band features storyteller, author and three-time Music PEI Male Vocalist of the year recipient Eddy Quinn, singer-songwriter and guitarist John B. Webster, and multi-instrumentalist, singer and stepdancer Keelin Wedge. Together the group plays a mix of Island music with lots of toe-tapping tunes, local stories, heartfelt ballads and a few laughs for good measure.
The show will end with a good ole fashion kitchen party! Former member of the groups Barachois and Les Girls as well as a member of Gadelle, Louise Arsenault is known for her vibrant and energetic fiddle-playing style inspired by Acadian kitchen parties. Add Jonathan Arsenault, Louise’s son, who is an incredible musician representing the second generation and, together, their energy resonates a joie-de-vivre as they take their audiences on a wild musical adventure! They will be joined on stage by Helen Bergeron. Furthermore, Mélodie Jordan will stepdance during their set.
The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for members of our Cooperative, $8 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com. If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.
The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
