The Finale Event of Festival “Meat Pie”!

The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico & Doucet House Museums are thrilled to invite the public to the finale event of Festival “Meat Pie”.  Finalists from each of the six regional competitions held from tip to tip of Prince Edward Island will compete to determine who makes the best traditional meat pie and the best non-traditional meat pie in PEI.  Everyone is invited to join us for this free activity taking place this Saturday, October 15 at the Cymbria Lions Club at 7 p.m.!

Since September 9, six regional competitions have taken place in search of the best traditional and non-traditional meat pies in PEI.  All 1st place regional winners in both categories will be present for this finale event in Rustico.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three meat pies in each category.  The 1st place winners will receive $500, the 2nd place winners will take home $250 and the 3rd place winners will walk away with $125.

“The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico and Doucet House Museums are very pleased to have spearheaded this brand-new Island-wide festival featuring the Acadian meat pie” indicates Arnold Smith, President of the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico and Doucet House Museums.

This event will reunite folks from each of the six corners of our province under the same roof in the oldest Acadian community in our province.  The organizers want this event to be representative of our six Acadian and francophone regions in all ways.  Therefore, attendees will be entertained by a traditional kitchen party featuring musicians representing each of our six Acadian and francophone areas.

The artists:
Richard Wood (Charlottetown)
Keelin Wedge (West Prince and Summerside)
Pascal Miousse (Évangéline and Charlottetown)
Jake Charron (Charlottetown)
Brent Chaisson (Eastern Kings and Summerside)
Megan Bergeron (Évangéline)
Taylor Johnson (Eastern Kings)
And others…

Our celebrity judge, chef Robert Pendergast, had the pleasure of participating in all regional competitions and will be amongst us for this finale event.  By his side to help him judge this finale event will be Sarah Bennetto O’Brian (owner of The Handpie Company) as well as Yvonne Doucette resident of the Rustico area and an experienced and long-time meat pie maker!

The doors of the Cymbria Lions Club (2184 Church Road, Rustico), will open at 6:15 p.m. and the event will kick-off at 7 p.m.  During the event, attendees will get to take part in meat pie samplings and the bar will be open!
