Jordan LeClair, Maz and Laurie LeBlanc in concert this Sunday during the Grand Ruisseau Song Festival!

The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) is pleased to announce that the 13th edition of the Grand Ruisseau Song Festival will be taking place at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

The first of three shows will take place on Sunday, September 11 at 7 p.m. at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall and will feature Island-based singer Jordan LeClair, the group Maz as well as New Brunswick Country singer/songwriter Laurie LeBlanc.

Jordan LeClair hails from the Tignish region and has been performing on stage for close to 25 years.  It’s thanks to numerous family members,  including his mother, grandfather, aunts and cousins, that he found his love for music.  During his performances, he presents a mixture of Country, Southern Rock, Rock and Folk music.

For their part, the group Maz will take you on a journey through music and storytelling that will bring you back to family campfires filled with bilingual songs that will be familiar to the ear.  Many of the group members are from the same Mazerolle family and have been performing together since their youth. Other members have joined (we call them our chosen family) to complete the group of 7 singers and musicians that span over numerous generations.  The members include: Josée Boudreau, Isabelle Bourgeois, Ginette Caissie, Denise Guitard, Alex O’Brien, Jean-Marc O’Brien and Guy Mazerolle. It should be noted that Josée Boudreau resides in Mont-Carmel with her husband Mathieu and their three children.

The show will end with a performance by New Brunswick Country singer/songwriter Laurie LeBlanc.  His texts are dotted with expressions from Acadie which are layered on American Country melodies.  Hailing from the southeastern part of New Brunswick, Laurie has 8 albums to his name.  It’s his album 20 which helped him pierce the Québec market with his hit single Moi-itou Mojito as this song topped the Francophone charts on iTunes Canada.  This album also awarded him with his first nomination at the ADISQ Awards for Country Album of the Year.  Laurie just released his 8th album titled “Long Weekend” which resonates summer and is the perfect addition to any party playlist!

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com.  For those who wish to purchase their tickets in person, tickets for our two other shows taking place during the Grand Ruisseau Song Festival will be made available for purchase to our spectators during this show.  If any tickets are left, they may be purchased at the door on the night of the show.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
