Closing Concert of the 15th Edition of the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series on August 28!

The time has already come to present the closing show of the concert series which took place every Sunday night during the summer in Mont-Carmel.

The artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, August 28, are New Brunswick group Troiselle featuring Isabelle Bujold, Nadine Hébert and Monique Poirier, the local family group featuring Caroline Bernard, Rémi Arsenault, Riel Arsenault and Benoît Arsenault from the Évangéline region as well as a traditional music trio featuring Mélissa Gallant, Rémi Arsenault and Megan Bergeron.  There will also be stepdancing by Mélodie Jordan.

The members of Troiselle met on stage and had their first conversations “that matter” in dressing rooms and discovered their true colours by touring and being on the road together for hours (…and hours).  Fifteen years later and they are the best of friends.  They share parenting tips in dressing rooms, and they appreciate their coffee, nice hot meals while touring and every minute on stage feels like therapy! The voices of Isabelle Bujold, Nadine Hébert and Monique Poirier are at their best when they are laced together like a comfy old pair of shoes!  They perform a show that they initially created to bring them joy featuring both covers and original songs with a repertoire that varies through language, its origins, and themes.  The driving force?  Under the musical direction of François Émond, Troiselle invites you to dive into their universe where music is there for pleasure…and to help with the lack of sleep!

Caroline Bernard and Rémi Arsenault, two musicians/songwriters/composers/multi-instrumentalists, are well-known in PEI. Together, they share their love of music with their two sons Riel and Benoît.   These two young multi-instrumentalists are 11 and 9 years old and have been performing on stage with their parents pretty much since the time they were able to walk.  This family from the Évangéline region demonstrates their passion and energy for music of all genres.

Originally from the Évangéline region in Prince Edward Island where Acadian, Irish and Scottish music can be heard practically everywhere, Mélissa now resides in Cocagne, New Brunswick.  It’s at the age of 2 that she started to stepdance and, ten years later, she started playing the fiddle.  In 1999 she released her instrumental album and was nominated for an ECMA.  From 1999 to 2003, she was part of the group Celtitude and Vishtèn and toured in France, the United States and Canada.  Mélissa is known for her astonishing rhythms and her energy on stage.

Megan Bergeron is also originally from the Évangéline region in Prince Edward Island but lives in Moncton, New Brunswick.  She has been a back-up musician for numerous years. Previously, she was a member of the group Vishtèn and participated in many tours in France, the United States and Canada.

For his part, Rémi Arsenault is from the Évangéline region and is without a doubt one of the accompanists who is most in demand on the East Coast of Canada.  He has performed on stages all around the world and, during the last few years, is one of Nathalie MacMaster’s accompanists.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com.  If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
