A concert not to be missed on August 21 in Mont-Carmel!

Seven shows have taken place to date and the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday night until August 28 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

The artists who will be taking the stage on Sunday, August 21, are Island singer/songwriter Marcella Richard, New Brunswick Country singer/songwriter Flo Durelle with Les Frères Delhunty as well as the musical family from New Brunswick, La Famille LeBlanc.

Marcella Richard grew up amongst a musical family and was surrounded by fiddles, harmonicas, mandolins, guitars and songs.  She currently has four recordings to her name and her most recent recording “Marcella Richard Sings Roy MacCaull” was released in 2018. Her songs have been played on radio stations across Canada, in Louisiana and in France, and have reached the number one spot on charts in the Maritimes. Her voice has been described as one that goes straight to the soul and can make you laugh, dance and even cry.

Originally from Baie-Ste-Anne, New Brunswick, Flo Durelle has been performing on stage since she was 5 years old.  In the 80’s, she toured extensively throughout Canada and the US as a member of both Morning Sun and Calico.  In 1984, she represented New Brunswick in the Great Atlantic Canada Talent Contest.  During the 90’s, she performed in a duo with her brother Buff.  In 2016, she released her first recording titled To Daddy, and a few years later, in 2019, her second album Listen to Your Heart.  She is known for her strong vocal style, bubbly personality, and her love of country music.  In 2020, she was inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame.  During this performance, she will be joined on stage by Les Frères Delhunty.

For La Famille LeBlanc, it is essential to preserve, share and pass down traditions.  Robin, his wife Rebecca and their three daughters Charlotte, Rosalie and Mélodie spend countless hours performing songs and tunes from the Acadian repertoire in order to introduce them to the rest of the world.  La Famille LeBlanc’s music comes from their Acadian culture and represents styles from various parts of the world including the Acadian Peninsula in Gaspésie, Chéticamp, Memramcook, Prince Edward Island, the Magdalen Islands, Newfoundland and all the way to Poitou in France.  La Famille LeBlanc consists of Charlotte who is 14 years old on the fiddle, stepdancing and vocals, Rosalie who is 13 years old on the concertina, vocals and stepdancing, Mélodie who is 12 years old on the flute and stepdancing, their mother Rebecca on the bodhràn and vocals and their father Robin on the piano and fiddle.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com.  For those who rather purchase their tickets in person, tickets for our last show of the season will be made available for purchase to our spectators during our show on Sunday night.  If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.

The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
