The artists taking the stage on August 14 in Mont-Carmel!

Six shows have already taken place and the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday night until August 28 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

The artists who will be taking the stage on Sunday, August 14, are renowned singer/songwriter Lina Boudreau from New Brunswick, the Island duo formed by singer/songwriter Meaghan Blanchard and Thomas Webb as well as traditional music duo Cassie & Maggie MacDonald from Nova Scotia.  There will also be stepdancing by Isabelle and Danielle Saunders.

Throughout her career, Lina Boudreau has carved out a key role on the francophone musical scene. Her career includes recording five albums, giving performances around the globe and lending her voice to numerous films. This artist, originally from Memramcook, New Brunswick, has had the privilege of performing at international gatherings such as G7 and a few Francophone Summits, which gave her the opportunity to perform in Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Guinea.  She has also performed in Morocco, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Tanzania.  Her greatest tribute to date is that she was the only singer invited by Céline Dion and René Angelil to perform during the baptism of their son René-Charles. She is one of the most popular back-up singers in Québec.  She is often invited to provide back-up vocals either on stage or on recordings for Luc de la Rochellière, Laurence Jalbert, Villeray, Judi Richards, Roch Voisine, Zachary Richard, Jean Leloup, Pierre Flyn and Robert Charlebois.

East Coast Music Award-winning songwriter Meaghan Blanchard’s most recent release, The Great Escape, is a collection that celebrates the struggles and triumphs of real people and the true heroes and heroines of everyday life and is the most powerful album of her career. With her warm melodies and stunning vocals, the PEI native warms hearts and sends out a few chills as well, taking an unflinching look at the joys and hardships we all experience. She is one of the most captivating performers and writers in Canadian roots music.  During this performance, she will be joined on stage by Thomas Webb.

Nova Scotian sisters Cassie and Maggie have been lighting up the world with their unique blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic instrumentals and vocals. Appearing on stages across North America, the UK, and Europe, the sisters have enchanted audiences far and wide with lively fiddle, piano and guitar arrangements, stunning sibling vocal harmonies in both English and Gaelic, all complemented by their intricate and percussive stepdancing style.   Cassie and Maggie will be joined on stage by stepdancers Isabelle & Danielle Saunders.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com.  For those who wish to purchase their tickets in person, tickets for all our remaining shows will be made available to our spectators during each of our shows on Sunday nights.  If any tickets are left, they can be purchased at the door on the night of the show.
