Five shows have taken place to date and the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday night until August 28 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.
The artists who will be taking the stage on Sunday, August 7, are the Quebec Folk music group Jabbour, the Country music group Beauséjour (featuring Danny Boudreau from New Brunswick and Jocelyne Baribeau from Manitoba) as well as renowned Island fiddler Richard Wood.
The Folk music performed by Jabbour is linked to the different cities in the province of Quebec where each band member resides. Their third album titled Carling Lake is a testimony of the group’s evolution as collaborators. This will be their third tour in Prince Edward Island, and, during this performance, the group will perform songs from each of the albums as well as from singer/songwriters who inspire them.
Two artists, Danny Boudreau and Jocelyne Baribeau, each with impressive track records, have developed a concept that allows the discovery of two regions of Canada – Acadie and the Prairies. Beauséjour released its first album in 2019 during the celebrations organized by Culture Country. A few days later, they headed out on the road with a series of shows taking them to Acadie, Ontario, Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan as well as Manitoba. Beauséjour, who was nominated 13 times and won 2 Willy Awards during the Gala Country, does not steer far from its niche of “Good ole Country music”. The members of this pan-Canadian duo have given themselves the mandate to give the public the urge to rediscover this repertoire engraved in their memories.
For more than three decades, Richard Wood has blown away sold-out audiences around the globe with his traditional-born, fiery brand of Celtic music. He is a 5-time ECMA and multi-Music PEI Award-winner, a two-time recipient of the Don Messer Memorial Trophy and winner of countless step-dancing & fiddling championships. His Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated and ECMA award-winning 8th album, Unbroken, has reviewers praising it as some of his best work to date! During this performance, he will be accompanied by Jon Matthews.
The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for members of our Cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. Given that seating is limited, folks are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.cdcpmc.eventbrite.com. For those who wish to purchase their tickets in person, tickets for all our remaining shows will be made available to our spectators during each of our shows on Sunday nights. If any tickets are left, they will be made available for purchase at the door on the night of the show.
The mandate of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel is to showcase, develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of Mont-Carmel.
