WELLINGTON, PEI, March 2, 2020 – For the sixth year in a row, the PEI French Health Network (PEIFHN) will offer two $1,500 bursaries to Prince Edward Island Francophone or Francophile students enrolled in a post-secondary health program.  

Those who register on the PEIFHN health student database automatically become eligible to win one of two $1,500 bursaries for 2020-2021. This database allows the Health Network to provide registered students with information about training and employment opportunities in Prince Edward Island.  

One of the bursaries will be awarded to a student who is enrolling in a health program at a post-secondary institution for the first time in the 2020–2021 academic year. The other grant will be awarded to a student who has already started a post-secondary program in health and will be continuing their studies in 2020–2021.

New this year, the PEIFHN is inviting all French-speaking students from outside the province who are enrolled in a post-secondary health program on the Island to register with their database and enter their name for a chance to win a $500 bursary. This one-time initiative will help assess the size of this particular student community, ensure these future young professionals are included in the PEIFHN’s recruitment efforts and encourage them to stay in the province after completing their program.

Every year, the Health Network shares its list of bilingual students with the Department of Health and Wellness’s Recruitment and Retention Secretariat, which further notifies students of training and employment opportunities in the province.  

Interested students have until midnight on Sunday, May 31 to fill out the short entry form on the Health Network’s Web site at www.santeipe.ca/etudiants-en-sante. The bursaries will be randomly drawn in early June 2020 among all applications received.
