A stellar line-up of artists to take the stage in Mont-Carmel on July 21!

The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) is happy to announce the artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 21. The third of eight shows, sponsored by KKP, will feature Annie and Gabi Kitson, the Evangeline area duo Albert and Mona Arsenault, singers/songwriters Jill Chandler and Maureen Trainor as well as the traditional celtic music duo of Cassie and Maggie MacDonald.  There will also be stepdancing by Maddie, Isabelle and Linda Richards.

Annie and Gabi Kitson, daughters of singer Joey Kitson, will make their first appearance on the stage of the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series.  Annie is 19 years old and her love of the piano started at the very young age of 2 when she first heard her mémère Noella playing “Musicbox Dancer”.  Inspired by her great grandfather, pépère Cormier, she started playing the fiddle when she was thirteen years old.  Gabi is 23 years old and, as a member of the Confederation Youth Chorus, has toured extensively throughout Europe and the US with this choir. She has continued her passion for music and performance as a member of “The Kitsons”, alongside her siblings Annie and Julien.

Albert and Mona Arsenault have been performing together on numerous stages over the last number of years for various occasions. Their repertoire is a mix of country, Acadian as well as original songs.  The instrumentation of their group includes guitar, bass, harmonica and vocal harmonies.

Singers/songwrtiers Jill Chandler and Maureen Trainor will share the stage for a very special performance. Jill’s songs come from a place of love, a place of truth, a place of loss. With catchy melodies and poetic lyrics, her songs tell her story. Jill is currently recording her first album, which is set for release in the fall of 2019.  For her part, Maureen has been writing songs for over two decades.  She recently launched her debut album “Nothing But The Stars” and she is very much looking forward to sharing her original music with the audience in Mont-Carmel.

Nova Scotian sisters Cassie and Maggie have been lighting up the world with their unique blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic instrumentals and vocals. Appearing on stages across North America, the UK, and Europe, the sisters have enchanted audiences far and wide with lively fiddle, piano and guitar arrangements, stunning sibling vocal harmonies in both English and Gaelic, all complemented by their intricate and percussive stepdancing style.   Cassie and Maggie will be joined on stage by stepdancers Maddie, Isabelle and Linda Richards.

All concerts, happening every Sunday until August 25th, start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall  (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to arrive early because the seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers. You can find the 2019 line-up at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com
