Looking for contestants to compete in 2019 Acazing Talent Competition

New this year:  French Song Award

ABRAM-VILLAGE - July 17, 2019 – The Evangeline Area Agricultural Exhibition and Acadian Festival is launching a call for contestants of all ages for its 2019 Acazing Talent Competition, which will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Evangeline Recreation Centre in Abram-Village.

This year, a new French Song Award will be added to the list of prizes to encourage contestants to present songs in French, the main language of the festival.

Organizers note that the bilingual contest will, as always, include three categories of competition: the first for children aged 12 years and under, the second for youth aged 13 to 20 years and the third for adults aged 21 years and over. The competition is open to amateur performers only. Contestants can register as a solo act or as a group; all performing arts disciplines are eligible. The maximum number of entries in the competition has been set at 18, hence a maximum of six participants per category.

Cash prizes will be offered to winners in the following categories: category 1 - $150 and $75, category 2 - $250 and $125, category 3 - $400 and $200. Also up for grabs is the People’s Choice Award.

Festival mascot Acazing is pleased to be hosting this event once again this year and invites people to register early to ensure their place in the competition, as registration will take place on a "first come, first served" basis. Registrations will be received until Aug. 19. For more information on the competition and to register, call Edmond Gallant at (902) 854-3417 or email him at egallant55@gmail.com.

Jeanne Gallant, president of the Agricultural Exhibition and the Acadian Festival, hopes that artists from all over the province and beyond will enter the competition. Considering the size of the crowd that has been attending the competition in recent years, she noted that this great event is very much appreciated by the public.
