Montreal, October 1st, 2018 – La Tournée Québec Cinéma is pleased to be working with the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard once again as it launches its 2018-19 Tour with stops in four communities across the province this October 4 to 8. The visit will give francophone and francophile Islanders in Souris, Charlottetown, Summerside and Wellington the opportunity to see four of the year’s best feature films for free.
The first stop, on October 4, will be the town of Souris, with a screening of LA BOLDUC by François Bouvier at 6:30 p.m., in the multi-purpose room in the Pavillon. In addition, students at La Belle-Cloche school will get to see NELLY ET SIMON : MISSION YÉTI by Nancy Florence Savard and Pierre Greco.
On October 5, the team will head to Charlottetown with writer Nicole Bélanger to present LES ROIS MONGOLS by Luc Picard, winner of a Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and the Iris for best screenplay at this year’s Gala Québec Cinéma. The screening is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Théâtre Port La- Joye. The next day, Nicole Bélanger will travel to Summerside for another screening of LES ROIS MONGOLS at 7 p.m., at the Centre Belle-Alliance. Kids and adults will also enjoy a family screening of NELLY ET SIMON : MISSION YÉTI at 1 p.m. at the same venue. Lastly, the Tournée’s PEI visit concludes in Wellington on October 8 with a screening of C’EST LE CŒUR QUI MEURT EN
DERNIER by Alexis Durand-Brault at 1 p.m. at the Cooperative Le Chez-Nous.
The Tournée Québec Cinéma, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has travelled more than 170,000 km over the years, bringing Quebec’s films and francophone culture to communities across Canada. In its first 15 years, the Tournée has screened more than 700 films, brought 450 artists to their audience and reached 107,000 participants throughout the land. And it’s far from over! The Tournée is launching this new season with plans to visit more than 30 cities and towns.
