Summerside - Île-du-Prince-Édouard, le 05 juin 2017 - La Commission Scolaire de langue française de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard (CSLF) et la Société Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin (SSTA) ont organisé le 31 mai dernier, la toute première rencontre conjointe avec chacune des différentes directions scolaires et communautaires de la province.
Cette réunion illustre la volonté de rapprochement entre les deux secteurs, autour du thème de la Jeunesse, mais aussi plus largement pour servir au mieux les intérêts de toute la communauté acadienne et francophone de l’Île, et s’inscrit dans les directives du nouveau Plan de Développement Global (PDG) de la communauté acadienne et francophone de l’Î.-P.-É.
Pour Anne Bernard-Bourgeois, directrice générale de la CSLF, « il est très important que tout le monde se retrouve aujourd’hui avec cette même volonté de travailler ensemble pour mettre en œuvre cette nouvelle stratégie commune face au défi de la construction identitaire de nos jeunes acadiens et francophones ».
La décision de cibler le développement et l’épanouissement de la jeunesse francophone insulaire dans le nouveau PDG est à la fois stratégique et prometteur, selon le directeur général de la Société Saint-Thomas d’Aquin (SSTA), Aubrey Cormier. « Investir dans la jeunesse et encourager la collaboration entre scolaire et le communautaire est certainement gage de succès», soutient-il.

Summerside, Prince Edward Island, May 31, 2017 – Earlier today, the Prince Edward Island French Language School Board (FLSB) and the Société Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin (SSTA) organized the very first joint meeting between the province’s French school principals and community leaders.
The meeting demonstrated the two sectors’ willingness to establish closer ties. While the main theme focused on Youth, the participants aimed to serve the interests of the Acadian and Francophone community at large in PEI. This collaborative effort was set out in the guidelines of the new Global Development Plan for the Island’s Acadian and Francophone community.
For Anne Bernard-Bourgeois, FLSB Superintendent, “it was essential for everyone to come together today in the same spirit of collaboration to implement this new common strategy and address the challenges surrounding the identity building of our Acadian and Francophone youth”.
“The decision to target the development and growth of the Island’s Francophone youth in the new Global Development Plan is both strategic and promising,” says Aubrey Cormier, Executive Director of the SSTA. “By investing in our youth and increasing the collaboration between the school and community sectors, we’re laying down a roadmap to success.”
